This Sangoma D100 features 30 ports and PCI Express connectivity to deliver flexibility ideal for many IP telephony applications. The D100-030E will use multiple voice codecs while digitally compressing voice signals to use less bandwidth. Voice signals from the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) come in the form of the G.711 codec, but your VoIP terminal equipment supports a different variety of codecs, such as G.729, G.726, AMR, G.723.1, G.722, iLBC, etc.
VoIP infrastructures need to mediate between endpoints supporting different codecs, but this can entail digital signal processing tasks that are both expensive and and resource-intensive, and also affect the quality of the voice signals.
The D100-030E card utilizes a PCIe form factor and can convert multiple channels of transcoding from one type of codec to another without introducing latency or using CPU resources. This D100 card enables up to 30 channels and of any-to-any codec conversion*. All codecs are fully indemnified and additional licensing is not required for use**.
The Sangoma D100 is fully compatible with both Asterisk and FreeSWITCH. With compatible drivers, Sangoma D100 cards can be used as seamless voice transcoding resources.
* Total port counts performance varies from codec to codec use and on the traffic mix at any given time
** Except for AMR and AMR-WB
