3CX Month: Plug and Play Provisioning for Yealink T2 Series IP Phones

Every business day for the month of November, we will be posting a useful tip for 3CX, a powerful SIP-based unified communications platform.

Yealink IP phones are designed to seamlessly integrate into your 3CX phone system. Part of that integration is plug and play provisioning. To give you a taste of how easy 3CX is to use when you choose compatible IP phones, we’re showing you how to provision a Yealink T2 series phone.

The Yealink T2 series includes the following models that are currently supported by 3CX:

(Other Yealink T2 phones are not currently supported but can be added as legacy devices with the correct firmware version: see 3CX’s website for more details.)

3CX Plug and Play Provisioning for Yealink

Provisioning configures your IP phone for use with your IP phone system. Instead of having to manually enter all the information, 3CX makes it simple to provision Yealink IP phones.

First, make sure your phone’s firmware is up-to-date. (This is a good step even if you’re not provisioning it!)

Next, factory reset the phone, just in case there are previous settings somewhere stored on the phone. This will make your phone a blank slate, ready for provisioning.

Then, plug the Ethernet cable into your phone. You’re almost done! The phone will automatically communicate with 3CX and provision it.

All that’s left for you to do is give the phone an extension.

In the 3CX Management Console, go to “Phones.” The new phone will appear in bold text.

Click on the phone, change its name if you want, and choose to assign or add an extension:

  • Assign extension, if the extension already exists.
  • Add extension, if it’s a brand-new extension.

All the other settings should be automatically filled in. If you want to change them, you can.

Click “Ok.”

That’s it! Your Yealink IP phone is provisioned to work optimally with your 3CX phone system.
