Hikvision is an innovative company best known for manufacturing affordable, professional video security solutions. Their IP cameras are used around the world to provide top-class video surveillance.
What’s less known is that they apply the same network and video expertise to intercoms.
In this blog, we’re going to cover two new solutions for professional door entry from Hikvision: the DS-HD1 smart video doorbell and their modular door station system.
Hikvision DS-HD1 Smart Video Doorbell
Hikvision DS-HD1 is a smart doorbell and full-duplex intercom for door entry control and doorstop surveillance.
To connect to your network, it uses Wi-Fi, so you don’t need to worry about cabling or placement.
DS-HD1 has an integrated 3MP camera, which gives you 1.5x detail compared with 1080p Full HD. The camera uses a starlight sensor for excellent low-light performance.
In addition, it has integrated infrared technology with a 16ft range. And you can customize the passive infrared motion detection to trigger actions.
The lens has a 180° vertical by 105° horizontal field of view, so it works even when really tall or short people are at the doorbell.
In other words, you’ll have a complete access control intercom in a device that only measures about 5” x 2” and is less than an inch thick.
In Hikvision’s parlance, DS-HD1 acts as a door station. That means it sits outside and connects via the IP network to an indoor station, such as the Hikvision DS-KH6320-WTE1 video intercom indoor station with HD 7” touchscreen display.
The person indoors — whether it’s an apartment or office — can see the person at the doorway, speak with them, and let them in. You can even record video. All with an interface as familiar as a tablet.
Or, because it’s a network-connected solution, you can setup the doorbell with Hikvision’s mobile app to enable secure audio/video communications and door control from anywhere your phone can connect to the internet.
Hikvision Video Intercom Modular System
With their modular intercom system, Hikvision allows you to easily build an IP video intercom with features that work for your specific deployment.
Here’s how it works: the central unit is the Hikvision DS-KD8003-IME1 video intercom module.
It has an integrated fisheye camera with 1080p Full HD sensor and infrared supplement light. It also has a single button with a customizable nametag that you can set to call an extension.
From this module, you can connect sub-modules. So far, Hikvision has released four sub-modules:
- DS-KD-DIS — display module for viewing and selecting an extension (e.g. office or apartment)
- DS-KD-KK — nametag module with six buttons for calling an extension
- DS-KD-KP — keypad module with 12-button keypad
- DS-KD-M — RFID card reader for secure contactless entry
The DS-KD8003-IME1 module can support access to up to 8 additional sub-modules.
Hikvision offers mounting options, either flush-mounted and surface-mounted with a choice of one, two, or three modules per mount.
As with the smart doorbell, the modular video intercom system is designed for use with an indoor station.
