Zoom Rooms is among the most popular video conferencing platforms for business today.
Want an easy way to establish a professional Zoom Rooms video conferencing system in your meeting room?
Try a Yealink Zoom Rooms Video Conferencing Kit. Available for a variety of room sizes, these kits are Zoom Rooms Certified Video Conferencing Solutions.
How do you know which kit you need?
In this blog, we guide you through the process of using the Yealink Room Configurator to determine which Yealink Zoom kit is right for you. We then cover how to build your own Yealink Zoom Rooms video conferencing kit if the Room Configurator gives you a part number that you can’t find.
Yealink Room Configurator
To find out what Yealink Zoom Rooms kit you should get, you can’t do better than using the Yealink Room Configurator (external link). https://support.yealink.com/en/room-configurator/design
This free online tool lets you choose which platform you want to use: Microsoft Teams, Zoom or BYOD. We cover what “BYOD” means in our blog: Multi-Platform Video Conferencing Hardware Prevents Lock-In and Preserves Business Flexibility.
You then select the size of the room you’re going to use the system in. For Zoom, you get options from Huddle Room to Extra-Large Room.
For certain room sizes for Zoom, you also need to decide whether you want to use devices in “Appliance Mode” or “PC Mode.” These mean Android (Appliance) or Windows (PC). Yealink offers either Android video bars or pre-configured Windows mini-PCs to run the meeting room software.
Room Configurator then gives you part numbers to order the exact kit that fits your room. Which is wonderful, except there’s a problem…
Sometimes these part numbers aren’t available in the USA.
For example, if you want a Zoom Rooms kit for large conferencing rooms, you get two options: Yealink ZVC860-C5-000 and Yealink ZVC860-C5-713. The first part number is available for purchase — and we recommend you get it from a friendly website named IP Phone Warehouse. But the second part number isn’t available for purchase.
So what do you do?
How to Build Yealink ZVC860-C5-713
Yealink ZVC860-C5-713 is part of the 3rd gen Yealink Zoom Rooms Systems series. The 3rd generation systems have upgraded mini-PCs and newer models of touch consoles. This system includes a full set of audio/video peripherals; the other ZVC860 part number lets you bring your own peripherals.
To build your own Yealink ZVC860-C5-713 Zoom Rooms Video Conferencing Kit, you’ll need to buy the following items separately:
- Yealink ZVC860-C5-000
- Yealink MSpeaker II Sound Bar
- Yealink WPP30 Wireless Presentation Pod
- Yealink RCH40 Room Cable Hub
- …and two Yealink VCM35 Wired Microphone Arrays
ZVC860-C5-000 consists of an MCore Pro mini-PC, MTouch Plus touch console, UVC86 dual-eye video conferencing camera and RoomSensor.
Advantages of Building Your Own Yealink Zoom Rooms Kit
Let’s take a bit of a detour to explore why you might want to build your own kit.
One of the advantages of building your own bundle is that, if you already have, for example a sound bar that you want to keep on using, you don’t need to pay for a new one.
Another advantage is that you can choose what kind of peripherals you want to use. You might want everything in the ZVC860-C5-713, except you want to use wireless microphones like Yealink VCM36-W instead of wired ones like Yealink VCM35.
For complete, up-to-date information on which peripherals — microphones, cameras, speakers, etc. — are compatible with what Yealink ZVC system, see “ Zoom Rooms Accessories Compatibility Lists” (external link) on the Yealink Support website.
In this way, you can build your own Yealink kit with the specific peripherals that work best for your situation.
Let’s get back to the main topic…
Yealink ZVC840 Video Conferencing Kit for Zoom Rooms
If you’d like a 3rd generation ZVC840 kit for medium to large rooms, here’s how to build it. This kit is the same as the ZVC860-C5-000 kit just mentioned, but without a speaker/presenter tracking camera. If you don’t need speaker or presenter tracking, ZVC840 is for you. Here’s what to get:
MCoreKit-C5-ZR consists of an MCore Pro mini-PC, MTouch Plus touch console and RoomSensor.
Yealink ZVC400 Video Conferencing Kit for Zoom Rooms
When you search for a PC Mode solution for a Small Room on the Room Configurator, you get simply “ZVC400.” But this isn’t a purchasable part number.
If you want the 3rd generation ZVC400 kit, you’ll need to build it yourself. This one’s pretty easy. All you need to do is get these two items:
