Axis Communications is well-known as the worldwide leader in IP security cameras. But did you know that they have applied their networking and engineering expertise to building out an elite network audio solution, which includes speakers that fit various needs, adapters for integrating existing speakers, and a powerful software management program: Axis Audio Manager.
In this blog, we introduce the Axis network audio speakers and software.
Axis Network Audio Management Software
The first thing to know about Axis paging speakers is that they’re all network paging speakers. This means that they’re IP paging speakers, not analog paging speakers. So they connect to your computer network and are controlled via an IP paging system.
Axis speakers run SIP, the open communications protocol, making them interoperable with a wide variety of paging systems, as well as VoIP phone systems, cloud phone services, and video management software (VMS). Because they’re network speakers, you get centralized control over each individual speaker and the whole system from a user interface on a computer.
Each Axis speaker comes with Axis Audio Manager Edge preinstalled. Audio Manager Edge is a free audio management system for small-to-medium sized deployments that requires no additional hardware. With Audio Manager Edge, lets you manage up to 200 speakers across up to 20 zones. You can manage live and recorded messages, background music, and more with scheduling and system health monitoring.
If your company requires more coverage, consider Axis Audio Manager Pro. This professional software can be installed on a computer or server. You can get an Axis Audio Manager Pro eLicense and install it on your own machines (make sure you check the minimum recommended configuration), or Axis offers the C7050 Mk III, a dedicated appliance with purpose-chosen specs and the software already installed.
Audio Manager Pro supports up to 5,000 speakers across up to 100 zones. It offers advanced scheduling options, real-time configuration to eliminate system downtime, and much, much more.
Axis Network Paging Speakers
Let’s take a look at the actual speakers now.
Axis speakers are all-in-one SIP paging speakers with built-in amplifiers and digital signal processors (DSP). They support POE, so you can power them using the same Ethernet cable that connects them to the network.
They all have microphones, as well, which lets you use them as talk-back speakers or integrate them with your surveillance system for an additional audio layer of security. As befits Axis, they have other features that promote the integration of the speakers with your security system.
Within any paging system, there are various scenarios that the speakers need to fulfill, and Axis gives you a broad selection to fit these scenarios:
- Axis C1004-E is a cabinet speaker designed for clearly broadcasting live or recorded voice messages.
- Axis C1210-E and Axis C1211-E are discreet ceiling speakers with wide-angle sound dispersion, perfect for general use in office buildings and similar locations. C1210-E is larger and C1211-E is smaller.
- Axis C1310-E is a ruggedized, outdoor-ready horn speaker with a directional cone construction for loud, clear paging is open spaces.
- Axis C1410 is a mini-speaker with a built-in passive infrared (PIR) sensor, which you can use with your security system to trigger warnings when it detects unwanted behavior.
- Axis C1510 and Axis C1511 are stylish white pendant speakers, designed to hang down from high ceilings like in airports or malls. C1510 is larger and C1511 is smaller.
- Axis C1610-VE is a classy alternative to a horn speaker, a weather- and vandal-resistant sound projector with rich, natural audio quality.
